Paloma, which sought to be on the leading edge of non-toxic nail salons, was designed to include all of the calming luxuries associated with a spa experience, while maintaining a very current and modern, yet natural, feel. Bright, commercial-feeling lighting was avoided in favor of small but effective adjustable task lights at manicure and pedicure stations. Modern decorative sconces and pendants were strategically used not only to mark individual spaces, but also to contribute to the designer feel of the space. Subtle indirect lighting was placed behind a shelf, which is a continuous design element along the linear space, adding to the modern luxury of the spa.
